A Musing #3
As my new space is getting ready, I’ve been thinking a lot about the possibility of streaming my work sessions or at least making some videos to please all our short attention span minds. There’s a lot of possible ways to go about this and I think I’m going to have to try them all.
I wonder about the whole legit making a vlog like some sort of beauty product channel on YouTube. Then I remember how I annoyed I get when someone says an excited hello to me in a pre-recorded video. It’s creepy. Who yells out “HI GUYS!!” and then slams and swirls pigment across their faces while some song from a band I never heard of is playing in the background.
There’s the whole time lapse option where you can see my work start and end in less than a minute. My issue with that is I’m not comfortable with showing everything I do. It just ruins the magic. I love watching other artists work but briefly. Give me a sample, not the whole meal. Let me think about what you’re doing and imagine how it comes together. I feel it becomes a more personal experience that way.
Then finally there’s the “live” option. Just set up the camera and watch me go. It doesn’t get more straight forward than that. I’ve done it before and It does get a bit wild considering the platform I used had an open chat room it flooded with people and comments. I want to say I love you guys for that but you guys are nuts. Lots of distractions being yelled things from “What size brush is that?” to “Aye what’s your phone number so I can holla real quick”.
So those are the basic three options I’m looking at. I guess we’ll see when the time comes and I’m back in my natural habitat.
